  Just had a US cheque to cash and since my bank is in Vancouver and no other local banks would be able to cash it, I was told there isn't many options. I was fine with paying the fee they ask, I just needed to have that cheque cashed, but I was told I needed to register an account with them. Fine. But then they were asking for bank statements, employers info, manager, income and SIN number. I refused to give my SIN since it is NOT mandatory to give to anyone but the government and it's actually illegal for anyone to demand it, they can ask, but they can't force you. That was met with patronizing attitude and arrogance with phrases like "Well, you give your social security number to your bank right? Then you have to give it to us". To which I replied "you are not a bank and you can't force me to give you this information". She kept on arguing about it and kept on going over my application in front of other customers, asking questions out loud about my income, what my job is, company etc. I've never been treated with such condescendance anywhere else but you have to wonder what kind of power they think they have when they deal with pay check loans. Definitely the last resort place to go.
